Our base has been quiet for most of this late spring/early summer, but now things are getting CRAZY!
Our FCC class graduated on June 24th, and 4 of those students, along with 5 others from the states started DTS last Monday. It has only been one week, but this group of nine has already bonded and love spending time together! it is such a joy to see all of them together, and we are so excited for the things God is going to teach them during the next five months. Jay is staffing this school, so he will have his hands full until we leave for the states. Unfortunately he will not be able to go on outreach with them, because baby comes first!
We are having two dance camps this year, one at the end of this month, and one at the end of August. The first dance camp (Army of God) consists of 26 of our kids from last years camp. This camp is considered a "Phase 2" and will be much harder than last year. This group will be learning about the armor of God and what spiritual warfare is. The second camp is a repeat of last year's theme, Royalty. In this camp we will have 30 brand new kids who will learn what it means to be a prince or princess in the eyes of the King. Katrina and I will be very involved in these camp with everything from sleeping in the dorms with the kids, leading the kids though the day's activities and working in the kitchen (Katrina) and teaching choreography to a group (Kate) God did so much in last year's camp, and we are so excited to see what he will be doing this year!
We have not had too many teams in the pst few months, but we will be getting a few in the upcoming months. One team is a group of families that are coming to build a home of hope. There will be lots of kids between the ages of 6-14 visiting the base for the week, which doesn't happen very often! This same week however, Jay will be gone off base that entire week, so it is going to very interesting juggling a team, Isaac, and daily life for a few days! Thank goodness Katrina is here and can help out! We are so thankful she is here! The other team that is visiting, in August, will be very low key, as they visit multiple times a year, but they are no less important to us!
Birthdays, anniversaries and weddings!
Lots of random little days that we will be celebrating! Isaac turns two at the end of July (where has the time gone?!?), and I will be turning 24 in September. BUT not before Jay and I celebrate 3 years of marriage, AND we get to celebrate the wedding of two of our friends and fellow staff members! So exciting!
