As many of you who are somewhat familiar with YWAM know, the Discipleship Training School (DTS) is the starting point for anyone interested in YWAM. It is a 5 month long intense discipleship program.
Not because of anything the staff do, but because we have a great God who is able to accomplish these things.
Staff do play a part in the process though. There are plenty of preparations that need to happen to ensure that the process isn't hindered because of some character or logistical error. Which means we have work to do!
The next DTS starts in just 2 weeks on July 6. We are getting ready for 10 students to be joining us on campus 24/7 for what will be one of the most impactful seasons of their lives. 6 Ladies and 4 guys.
I realize that you aren't physically here with us to encourage and challenge these 10 people, but please be praying for them. These are the next wave of missionaries going out from YWAM Haiti to the nations! Pray that they would be willing to hear God's voice and act on it, that they would confront their own lives and lay them down, and ultimately that they would know God and make Him known.
As I mentioned before we have some preparations to make for the students. Meal plans, class schedules, small groups, one-on-ones, and every detail of each week of class.
Here are some pictures of our scouting trip this last week to the location where one of the weeks is going to happen.
It's easy to forget sometimes but Haiti is a really beautiful country. Rugged but beautiful. Just like it's people.
And in case you are wondering, yes it was a glorious feeling taking off those boots! I just had to stop and take a selfie.
Thank you to everyone who helped out with all the yard sales that have been happening the past couple months, whether you organized or just stopped by to purchase a few new goodies for your home! Through the yard sales we were able to raise enough money for the round trip flights from Haiti to Colorado in October!
Please be praying for couple things before you go.
1. That we would raise enough money for the inverter system. Only $2,200 to go!
2. That I would be able to know how I specifically am called to be a blessing to Haiti, in this season before going to Port de Paix
YWAM Haiti Leadership Forum
Hey everyone! Just a quick update on this past week.
This past Monday through Wednesday Jay and I were invited to join the National Leadership Forum for YWAM Haiti. This was basically a gathering of all YWAM Haiti Leaders to discuss different topics pertaining to our ministries. It is such an honor to be included in this group, even though we are still in the planning stages of our base. Everyone in this group is very welcoming a supportive of Jay and I and what we feel God is calling us to, and they are more than willing to help and advise us on how to get started!
Our YWAM Haiti Leadership Team!
We have been fundraising for a few things lately, some things here on the website and Facebook, some things back in the states, so we just wanted to gather up all that information and put it here so you all can see how we are doing, where goals have been reached and where we are still needing help.
Back in the states my wonderful mother and her friends have been putting together yard sale after yard sale to raise the estimated $2,000 needed to get our family to the states and back. I am so very happy to say that yesterday we met that goal! The Fishers are coming home in early October! Thank you so much to those who donated and purchased items from the sales, and a HUGE thanks to the lovely ladies who helped put these sales together, you know who you are!
Sad that you missed out? Never fear! There is going to be one final yard sale next week, and EVERYTHING must GO! June 19th and 20th in Pueblo West. Since we have meet our airfaire goal, any extra funds will go towards our inverter fund or to additional costs of traveling to the states. Shoot us a Facebook message for more info!
We are raising money to be able to purchase an inverter system that will allow us to have 24/7 solar powered electricity! We are ALMOST to our halfway mark in fundraising, but we still have around $2,800 to go. With the amount donated so far, we have been able to purchase the biggest and most important piece of the whole system, the inverter itself (see our last post for more info) The next purchase to be made will be the batteries and the cables that go with them. For more information on our inverter system and how to donate, visit our fundraising webpage.
Featured Missionaries at FWC
Do you live in Pueblo and/or attend Family Worship Center? Then don't miss the services on Saturday July 11th or Sunday July 12th! We will be a featured missionaries that day, and you will have the opportunity to donate to our inverter fund directly!
Like Kate mentioned in the last post, we have been working hard to get back to posting on our more regular schedule. You may have also noticed that I forgot to post last week. I'm sorry for that. I know you like to hear from us more regularly (especially Grandparents).
I wanted to give you a quick update on a few of the things that Kate mentioned last post.
We have one more piece of news to share with you. A few weeks ago, Kate and I were invited to join the leadership team of the mission base here in St. Marc. We will have a 6 month period where we will be involved in the team in more of an observation role before we become full-fledged members. It is an exciting opportunity for us as we prepare for the eventual pioneering of the ministry in Port-de-Paix.
