It has been a little while since we have updated you guys! A few things have happened this past month, so let me bring you up to speed....
A trip to Port de Paix
The last week of April Jay and Isaac took a quick trip up to Port de Paix with the DTS. They spent the week helping out at the mission we stayed at last year as well as familiarizing themselves with the area a bit more. It was a short trip, but it an awesome daddy-Isaac adventure!
Conference in The Dominican Republic
At the beginning of May we traveled to the Dominican Republic for a conference for all the YWAM bases in the Caribbean! It was such an encouraging time, and it was wonderful to meet and connect with our fellow YWAMers from....Aruba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Barbados, Canada, USA, Grenada, Jamaica, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, St.Croix, Bahamas, and Suriname! I was able to perform for our dance team, and even Isaac did a little song with the rest of the missionary kids. Not all was fun and games though... Jay and I ended up getting a stomach virus (I am just got over it last week, yikes!) and our bus's tire blew out on our way back! Everything turned out for the best though,as we had an impromptu ice cream party on the side of the road while the tire was changed, and I lost the last bit of baby weight I had left ;)
No Construction School :(
As you saw in Jay's last post we were gearing up for Jay's construction school. All the planning was done and we were ready to go but....... no applications were turned in. So at this point in time we felt like this was still something God wanted to happen, just not in this season. God's timing is the best, and we know he will let us know when it is time to pursue this seminar again.
A new start to an old Blog
If you have been following us from the beginning, you may have remembered my personal blog "How-to-Haiti". It was to be a how- to guide on the ins and outs of Haitian living. Well, I wrote on that blog a total of two times before abandoning the idea. Recently though, I felt like I should resurrect my blog, but this time with more personal intentions. So, I (re)introduce to you....
Right now we have a team from YWAM Puerto Rico here at the moment, and there have been some crazy things happening while working with them, but I'll let Jay tell you all about them next time!
In con clusion
Before I sign off for today, I just want to spread the word about something very very exciting!
Our Campus's director and his family are adopting!
They have a young family member who is currently pregnant and is allowing this amazing family to adopt the baby. There are many costs associated with this venture, so they are selling t-shirts and raising money to cover all of the costs and fees. It would mean a lot to us if you all would support them in this time!
